But yes, shortly after the events of 1st anni, a letter is sent to the wizard manor. It's addressed to Faust specifically, but it's really for all of the Eastern wizards. So after Faust has had time to read it, an Eastern meeting is called to go over the contents of the letter.
Basically, one of the previous Eastern wizards- an older fellow, the one Heathcliff had replaced- had been living in a rented house in the City of Rain with a five-year rental agreement that had been renewed multiple times in the past. However, as this letter states, it is coming up on the end of the most recent five-year agreement, and with the resident very dead it's time for someone to clean out his belongings so the house can be rented out to someone else. That task has fallen to the Eastern wizards, and they get to spend a weekend taking care of this man's valuables and deciding what to keep and what to trash.
It's for the best, really. At least other Eastern wizards won't cause a ruckus like some certain Northern wizards. And while most in the city will give the Eastern wizards a wide berth while they work, assistance can still be found if they search for it.
Nero, of course, gets nominated to go through the kitchen. It's quite a nice one too, with a big open fireplace and several pots and pans suited for homestyle cooking. Interestingly, there is no rotting food like one might expect for a house left suddenly vacant over two years ago. In fact, the room looks quite clean, almost as if a magical cleaning fairy has been going through here.
Another interesting fact: while the kitchen is large enough and has enough dishes for 10 people, there is only a small table and two chairs near a window by the entrance to the kitchen.
Finally, there is a set of doors off to one side, which might be the pantry. A broom has fallen just so that it blocks the door from opening though.
[ Anni 1: BAD. Honestly, Nero's never had a good time in his miserable life anyway, so what's new. Fuck his stupid baka life, or whatever the sage is saying these days.
He doesn't need help cleaning out a kitchen, it's basically a home away from home, no matter what place he ends up cooking in. A little odd that there's nothing here, but maybe there were some spells on this place to keep it clean and they triggered something else upon his death.
He is going to pick up the broom, the thing that looks the most out of place. How is everything else so clean and the broom blocked like that. It doesn't occur to him to be worried about anything else that might happen to be behind the door. ]
He watches with the vibe of somebody who is not currently firing at all cylinders. So instead of reaching out to catch this guy, he steps out of his way. One easy and direct path to the floor for this guy.
[Hey so sorry about this Nero but this guy is made of sunshine and rainbows and unlimited energy and is about to show all of that off.
He smiles as he sits up so he can face Nero properly.]
I understand you, yes! And I feel much better now that I am free~
[He sounds human, and honestly he would pass as human to humans, but as a wizard Nero will be able to tell that his voice has a slight hum of magic to it. In fact, his magic as a whole will feel a little off, though it's off in a way that can't be easily detected currently.]
[This is a Westie if he's ever seen one. He can feel the magic easily enough. Maybe a wizard? A Western one would get into all kinds of freak nonsense.]
Sorry, were you trapped in here? [They left this guy here for so long!!! Nobody visited or anything!!!] For how long? You need anything right now?
It's been two months, eleven days, eighteen hours, thirty-seven minutes, and twelve seconds since the broom fell across the door and trapped me.
[Which is. A very precise time.]
And no, I don't need anything, but thank you for asking~ In fact, you probably need something from me if you're here, right? The Professor told me that visitors would come along eventually.

Where will Nero start his work?]
