[ A sudden silence arrives from Anaxagoras...the sheer shock of it all being the causation. After all, is he supposed to have expected Blade to tell him that he thought he isn't real? Especially when standing right before him? ]
Blade, I ask you this:
Where is the proof that you are not real?
[ Does it lie within him as a result of the fact that he is, in essence, a mechanical being? ]
[Blade puts his hand to his chest, as if to indicate that he himself is the proof.]
I'm just metal and essence. My body might survive anything, but "I" can be easily deleted and replaced with something else. I already have code in me that temporarily does that.
If I have a real flesh and blood body, then I'll be a real person who can't be deleted like that. I won't be bound by the rules programmed into me. I'll be able to create freely and have dreams and-
[Oops, there's tears blotting at the corners of his eyes. Not real tears of course, just saline. But Blade was made to be as lifelike as possible, and that includes the ability to cry.]
[ Anaxagoras' eye widens when he sees those tears appear, and then his expression turns solemn, as a whirlwind of emotion stirs inside of him, unwilling to be suppressed.
...No.
Anaxagoras can't accept this. Perhaps it's true that code exists, but it doesn't mean that "Blade" never existed. Seeing him so upset, so distraught, it leaves even him feeling even more determined to refute this - to not leave things as they are. Even if those tears are false, they are real to him. ]
Memories are, in truth, finicky things. If someone is powerful enough, they can take those away, just the same as you can be deleted and replaced with something else. Someone's life can be cut away, and then even their absence erased, if someone has the tools - even if they're an organic life.
[ Gently, but firmly, he looks at Blade in the eye, saying: ]
...Do you understand what I mean? You shouldn't be someone who can be deleted away so easily, but it doesn't mean you haven't been able to create. That you are not your own person.
And it may be that you do not dream like any other normal person; however, you have aspirations, dreams, and desires.
Ergo, you are real. Your actions, what you have created, and who you are is proof of your existence.
[Truthfully he's more afraid of whatever uses his body after him, since he knows just how much death and destruction he can cause. But he is absolutely not ready to speak those thoughts into reality.
He reaches up to wipe away his tears, and he ends up staring at the wetness on his sleeve once he pulls his hand away.]
Maybe someday I will be real, either with a human body or still in this one. But I don't feel real yet. There's still things I can't do, and there are other things I don't want to do but that my coding forces me to. So...
[He trails off, unsure of how to finish that thought.]
[ Anaxagoras should have known that changing his mind on the matter would be difficult. When there are road blocks to him functioning as an individual in the first place.
Still, he doesn't like it, even as he watches as he wipes Blade's tears away, quiet all the while. ]
...It sounds what can help change this is ultimately an alteration of your coding in the first place.
Or a way to block off that coding from interfering with your thought process as an individual. Though, I'm certain that getting to it would be rather difficult, wouldn't it? However, you had someone work on you before, right?
[ When he was reprogrammed by that other person. ]
[Unfortunately, Blade was not made with longevity in mind, so there are all sorts of bugs that need to be ironed out somehow.]
It would be nice to block the coding. Sometimes I just do things because people say I should, and I don't even stop to think if I want to or not.
[He is an agreeable person so he would probably say yes anyway, but the fact that his code just skips over his opinions sometimes is particularly concerning here.]
Huey did a lot for me, and it's thanks to him that I have emotions now, but there are still things I can't control fully.
[ Anaxagoras isn't someone who stands by without thinking of a possible solution and though they have just now floated it, it is still something only being spoken about instead of acted upon.
But, he is not going to gloss over things when they're in a situation where Blade's own will can be taken over in a manner of situations, trying to narrow it down to a more concrete line of steps to take. ]
Then, there is a potential goal to work towards - the idea of being able to block the coding that would essentially override your individuality and free will at key points in time.
[ Next would be exploring the 'how', wouldn't it? ]
I suppose that's one thing to thank him for.
...But, was this Huey able to gain access solely by magic? Or did he place you into a state where he could simply enter into your systems directly, or some kind of terminal?
Only by magic. There are ways to access my system directly, but you have to cut my skin off where the port is. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but there's no magic here to heal the skin back after accessing my system.
[And he's reluctant to do it without the healing available, because having a big gaping "wound" to explain away at trials doesn't sound great.]
