[After the town hall, Blade heads into some location to get out of the cold. He is really hoping that tomorrow brings better weather and a better effect.
Once he's inside he sees Anaxa there though, and he'll go over to interrupt him in whatever he is doing.]
I have everything from the meeting coded into my memory, so we can refer back to it later if need be.
[That is not what he wants to talk to Anaxa about, but it's a way to get the conversation going.]
[ It's frigid as ever, enough to cast a chill to the bone. Anaxagoras himself finds that he isn't inclined to liking the freeze, already having wandered back towards the sitting room. He places down a book he was about to read, turning to look at Blade curiously. ]
You recorded everything? That is rather convenient.
[ There is a slight tilt of his head as he considers Blade. ]
Anything regarding it, or other matters on your mind?
It just seems kind of hopeless now. If nothing we do at a trial matters, then we have to focus on stopping people from killing. And if people are transforming, then that's out of our control too.
[He frown thoughtfully.]
Han-Han was telling me I should tell everyone about my past, but I think it's not such a good idea anymore.
The more answers we find, the better methods we can discover in order to come up with a way to prevent either. Trust me when I say we still have a fighting chance.
[ Anaxagoras affirms, but with actual severity in his tone - optimistic, maybe. But he likes to think there's realism in there as well. ]
...Now, what made you change your mind about going around and telling your past? Granted, I can understand not telling everyone, exactly. But, you seemed to have had the same opinion as Hansa.
[ He is curious nonetheless. There are things he hasn't had the opportunity to learn about when it comes to Blade. ]
[He isn't so sure he believes that, but Anaxa sounds confident and sometimes it's good to lean on those confident people.]
It's hard to talk about my past without talking about how I used to be an assassin, and it's hard to talk about that without talking about how I'm coded to follow any direction I'm given.
[And he doesn't want that used against him here, not with the possibility of murder on the table.]
[ It's exactly why Anaxagoras said what he has - he realizes that Blade might need that right now, though he detects the uncertain tone.
But, it's only natural as well. ]
Speaking about your past is a normal matter, but seeing as it is more complicated in this instance...
[ Though, he's thinking about something else too. Anaxagoras doesn't want anyone to take the information Blade has surrounding his past to their advantage, either, and considering their situation, it's a valid concern. Thus, he believes he comes up with some potential solutions. ]
There are other considerations, such as rebranding your title as a 'soldier' - I wouldn't have necessarily called it a lie, as it appears you were serving a country. You don't need to get into details regarding who your targets were, and simply move on.
Otherwise, you can talk about how your personhood without going over intricate details about your coding, either. There are people out there who hadn't known what it's like to have personal hobbies or preferences, for example. I believe it's true ultimately you'll have to keep those specific details of yours discrete.
[Blade needs a lot of things right now, and the reassurance helps. He feeds off of the confidence of others.]
Wouldn't that cause problems with how I defected from Saia and joined up with the Grand Sorcerer? A soldier doing so carries a lot of stigma.
[The rest is solid advice though. He really does want to become his own person beyond his coding, so talking about those parts of his life will help reinforce the fact that he's becoming his own person.]
There's parts of my coding that definitely shouldn't be said to most people. I'm worried that someone will learn about how I'm coded to follow orders given to me and will use that against me.
Anaxagoras can't deny that it is something that would definitely end up as being worth a concern. Though, within that, he considers another matter as well. ]
It can. Though in the event you feel inclined, there are also arguments you can fashion to justify your defection. Unjust rulers or leaders are not uncommon.
[ Not that Huey sounded like he was much better, mind. ]
As for those other worries...I believe as long as you follow the advice I've given so far it will lower the chances of such things happening in the first place.
